Clean, delicious, affordable. Made to order comfort food. Courteous staff.
ABSOLUTELY THE WORST CHINESE FOOD I HAVE EVER HAD!AND THEY CHARGE BIG MONEY FOR FOOD I WOULDN'T FEED TO A DOG!SAVE YOUR TIME AND APPETITE FOR ANYTHING BETTER GO TO THE BEST "GOLDEN GATE CAFE"YOU WILL LOVE IT!
decent food.. lunch buffet was good with a fair amount of variety.
Courteous staff and terrible food, at least when its delivered. We have ordered here a couple times and tried a few things. This is panda express level food and quality. You will be disappointed.Chicken is so heavily breaded its more bread than chicken and soaking with grease. The entire dish taste like they where trying to cook in the wok with the heat on low instead of high. Avoid.
We have loved their food for a long time and always enjoyed eating there. The staff has always been very polite and friendly. The steamed dumplings are great, so is the shrimp with garlic sauce, the eggplant and the General Tso chicken.
Writing this review on a full stomach and I have to say that I rather enjoyed myself. My daughter said great things about this place and she was not wrong.Cheap prices, good food, and great service. The hostess was extremely nice and attentive, although I did not catch her name.Going to try out their delivery next time.
The people are friendly the atmosphere is inviting the food is outstanding. I have made it my goal to try everything on the menu, a most enjoyable meal.
Great buffet for lunch. Really like their dumplings and beans with pork
I ordered delivery service using the online menu. The menu wasn't descriptive and didn't list that the spring rolls contained shrimp. Also I would've requested that mushrooms be withheld from the main dish, but those contents weren't listed in the menu either. Apart from those two disappointments, the food was sub par. It was delivery, so it was relatively cold, but I guess that should've been expected. The prices weren't terrible, so that's a plus, albeit the only one.
Terrible food. Soggy sweet and sour chicken, no flavor to the sesame chicken. Took 50 minutes for delivery.
Most authentic chinese food in the state. Staff is always helpful with ordering.
Understated and underrated Chinese restaurant on Grand Ave. My favorite Chinese restaurant away from University Ave.
I used to come here in high school and the food was AWESOME. 9 years later, it literally tastes like flavorless garbage. Even the lo mein was bad; how does that happen?
I love this place for Chinese food. The cream cheese wontons are the best I've ever had, so definitely get those if you visit!
Delicious food. Will go back again next time un St Paul definately!!
There are some really great Chinese restaurants here but this wasn't one of them. The steamed dumplings were ok but the Szechuan shrimp and beef and broccoli were very bland. I didn't finish mine and threw away the leftovers. Won't be going back.
Disgusting don't waste your time and money...cheap Chinese water down taste. Disgusting again. Go somewhere else.
Good food. Staff is extremely nice. Environment is nothing special
Friendly, helpful people. Good food. I have specific dietary restrictions and the Grand Shanghai is one of the few places where I can eat the food and not react. They must be doing something right.
Gray food off the menus. Lunch buffet is great, but the kitchen can get behind if they are busy. Expect to wait for your favorite items to be refilled.
The food here is geat and continues to impress me time after time. I always get great meals, and service continues to be fast.
Rating says it all. But great if you like Sysco "food" drizzled with high fructose corn syrup. Pick somewhere else.
I went here this afternoon with friends. While their food selection is slightly limited, I was very impressed by the quality of the food. I'm a very picky eater when it comes to Chinese, and this stuff was excellent. The fried rice was amazing, and everything was very well maintained. I was actually surprised there were not more people there. Next time I go out for Chinese, I'm going here. Very good food.
Tonight my roommate and I got delivery and they said it would take 40 minutes to an hour. and it took two hours. when i called to say that I did not want to pay for it, the manager yelled at me and had a very rude tone, stating that it was the conditions of the road, even though i was out on the roads earlier and they are not bad. I called when my food was an hour and a half late then again a half an hour later. They manager was rude and nasty to me when i was only stating that it has been two hours. Also my house is just down the street from this place, so it should not take an extra hour to get to me. Even though the food is decent I am never going back to this place because of how rude the management was to me.
I eat here every time I'm back home. They are very polite and the food is good and consistent. It's a regular spot for me on Grand Ave.
Great place. Great food. I got the sesame chicken and chicken fried rice and it was amazing. 😍😁 I loved it!!!
Good taste. 6 star. Best in United States!
great food and service.
Nothing fancy in the decor, but the food is very good and the welcome even better.
I have never been disappointed here. Food is freshly made when ordering from the menu. I tried the lunch buffet the other day and everything was fresh there too. Other Chinese buffets taste mass produced. Here at the Grand Shanghai, the buffet dishes taste like it was just ordered off the menu. There weren't any desserts except for fried donut but there are 3 full islands of entrees and two soups. Hot and sour soup was very authentic. Dried fried fish was out of this world. Can't wait to go back.
great staff, great food! :) my girlfriend and I eat grand shanghai weekly. We love everything we have tried so far, but our favorites are: thai chicken, general tso chicken, pan fried dumplings, and the beef chow fun! mmmhmm comfort food
Great food/service Large portions!! Very good!
Great place, friendly people, wonderful food!
Go here for dim sum with your friends and family. Everyone orders something different, everyone gets to try a few flavorful dishes for about $10-12 each, including appetizers. It seems there's some bad reviews for delivery orders, don't let that throw you from trying this place out.
waiter was very impolite, egg rolls tasted like rotten duck. Asked for sesame chicken received nothing more then sweet and sour chicken! 1 out of 10 would not recommend to worst enemy...
**DO NOT EAT HERE**Bought numerous appetizers, wontons were cold/ soup was poor quality, watery scrambled eggs / dumplings were raw. Would not recommend.
My favorite restaurant - we feel like family when we come here. A great neighborhood fixture.
Delicious Chinese food. Speedy delivery and prep for take out. Kind service.
Wow, it's terrible.Plate was not clean, entrees not made hot as requested (I was advised that I could add some of the chili oil at the table if I wanted it hot), food was bland and of doubtful quality. Orange Beef that exploded apart when pricked with a fork and barely seemed to have beef inside at all. Eggroll like a paper towel roll stuffed with sawdust.
Lunch Buffet is great! Their Wings are amazing!
I've always been satisfied with my food here. Delivery is slow but the food is still hot when it arrives. The pan-fried dumplings are my favorite.
Best Chinese food around. Friendly staff, good service. Food is fresh and delishious. Favorite is the curry rife noodles. Spicy and tastey.
The name is misleading, as the food is Cantonese style. We feel very positive that nearly everything we were served was just old microwaved food. Specifically, the chicken was totally dry, bland, and rubbery. The egg rolls were extremely dry. They completely forgot to give us our green onion pancake, and after we mentioned that, someone went into the kitchen and came back less than a minute later with predictably microwaved ones. The bean sprouts and napa cabbage in the soup were browning and absolutely not fresh. Some of the dishes that our food was served on were dirty and had dried food on them. While we were eating, all of the staff and maybe some of their friends sat and ate together at a table. They were the only other diners in the restaurant on the Sunday afternoon that we dined here...Many other restaurants in the area, including other Chinese ones, that are FAR, FAR better. We will never come back.
Although the environment is very simple, the food is surprisingly good and very affordable.
It is always a pleasure coming here. I buy a cheap paperback at the bookstore next door and then come for a nice buffet lunch. Service is quick and pleasant. All together always a good experience at the Grand Shanghai.
This is our go to Chinese restaurant. Friendly and welcoming waitresses always greet us with smiles. Peking duck is delicious.
The soup was the best part, and they ran out of clean bowls. Very bland otherwise, and had to take the liberty to refill my water on my own.
Our local Chinese food joint. Folks are friendly and the food is pretty darn good.
This is the place to go to find some of the best Chinese food made by a chef born and raised in Hong Kong. I recommend the chicken and black bean sauce pan fried noodle, otherwise try it with the FUN noodle, which are actually hand made noodles. If spicy is not your thing try Chicken and vegetables with noodles. They are known for having the best Pork Bao in the Midwest. It is a family run business that has been there for over 17 years. They use the freshest ingredients possible. This is the only Chinese place I can stand to eat at. The lunch buffet is the most valuable option, aside from the vast array of choices on the menu. You can try something new every time you go to Grand Shanghai!
